Description
English: This is the first film adaptation of the story, directed by Michael Anderson and starring Edmond O’Brien as protagonist Winston Smith, and featuring Donald Pleasence, Jan Sterling, and Michael Redgrave. The character O’Brien, the antagonist, was renamed “O’Connor”, due to the shared surname of the actor Edmond O’Brien. Emmanuel Goldstein is changed to “Kalador”.
German: 1984 ist ein britischer dystopischer Spielfilm von 1956, der von Michael Anderson inszeniert wurde und auf dem gleichnamigen Roman des Schriftstellers George Orwell basiert. Es ist die erste Verfilmung dieses Romans. Donald Pleasence erschien auch in der 1954 gedrehten Fernsehversion.
