On view at the National Gallery of Art from February 20 to May 30, 2011, the exhibition features 20 of Canaletto’s finest paintings of Venice alongside 33 paintings by his most important contemporaries, including Michele Marieschi, Francesco Guardi, and Bernardo Bellotto. Beddington explains that the exhibition is unique for revealing the rivalry between the artists by these side-by-side comparisons.
