Us Now (2009)
10 Apr 2024
Description
Us Now is a 2009 documentary film project “about the power of mass collaboration, the government, and the Internet”. The New York Times describes it as a film that “paints a future in which every citizen is connected to the state as easily as to Facebook, choosing policies, questioning politicians, collaborating with neighbors.
Can we all govern? Us Now looks at how ‘user’ participation could transform the way that countries are governed. It tells the stories of online networks whose radical self-organizing structures threaten to change the fabric of government forever. Us Now follows the fate of Ebbsfleet United, a football club owned and run by its fans; Zopa, a bank in which everyone is the manager; and Couch Surfing, a vast online network whose members share their homes with strangers.
