Description
Kimberly Jones, curator of nineteenth-century French paintings, discusses works from late in Edgar Degas’ career. An experimental artist with a penchant for reworking his subjects, sometimes on multiple occasions spanning years and even decades, Edgar Degas’s art became more complex and challenging as his career progressed. This session will look at two "late" works by Degas in the National Gallery’s collection, Scene from the Steeplechase: The Fallen Jockey and Four Dancers to see what can be learned about the method to this great artist’s madness.
